Git is a fast, efficient, distributed version control system ideal for the collaborative development of software.
GitHub is the easiest (and prettiest) way to participate in that collaboration: fork projects, send pull requests, monitor development, all with ease.
This class would be a one maybe two? meeting class that goes over Git and Version Control through the Social Coding vehicle GitHub.

This would be an open-ended reading and discussion group centered around the relationship between theory and practice. The topic is purposefully large and the class would be structured as a monthly or bi-monthly meeting to discuss a reading chosen by the group. This format will allow the class to explore and tease out these relationships in philosophy, politics, ethics, arts practice, etc, etc. Hopefully by looking at the issue from a number of angles, domains, and styles of thought, we will find new connections and new articulations.
Readings may include:
and on and on.
This class looks at American pragmatism from its inception in James and Dewey to its more recent revival and reconfiguration in Rorty and Cavell. By looking at writings on art, literature, ethics, philosophy and politics, we attempt to identify what constitutes pragmatist thought and discuss its anti-essentialist, anti-foundationalist and anti-dualist underpinnings. Throughout the course we will also attempt to make connections to continental thinkers like Nietzsche and Deleuze, as well as discuss the issue raised by Stanley Fish in his essay "Truth and Toilets" about the potential impact of pragmatism on everyday life.
yes! yes! Thanks to everyone for a great and fun class.

This class will feature tables, chairs, and chess boards on Chung King Road, warm nights and refreshments.
