Hey yall! I live in Austin, but I will be back home in LA for the summer (starting June 1) and I am ready and willing to spread my Ableton knowledge. I produce and perform with Ableton Live as El Nou Mon: check it out if you'd like.

This course would consist of teaching the basics of Ableton Live for beginners and advanced users. This course will cover all the essential functions of this program.
This course would be a practical class in techniques of the display of objects. Topics covered would be
-pedestal, shelf and wall building
-techniques in painting/photo and other wall object hangings; how to correctly secure things, drill into concrete, hang things on drywall etc.
There could also be a theoretical element where texts talking about object display in a gallery or domestic space are given and talked about while things are being put together. Suggestions of texts are welcome.
Speculative realism is a newly-emerging philosophical mode of inquiry that attempts to think outside of the deadlocks of continental and analytic philosophy, primarily with a non-anthropocentric metaphysics and the ontological equalization of human and non-human experiences of reality.
Their main target consists of all those philosophies (from positivism to deconstruction, phenomenology to naive scientific objectivity) "according to which we only ever have access to the correlation between thinking and being, and never to either term considered apart from the other" (Meillassoux).
Some questions for Speculative Realists might be: what is an object? Why do we think we cannot know objects? How do objects know each other? Howcan we think of the human and the inorganic in the same or similar terms? What does our inevitable non-existence tell us about the world? How are worlds without human thought knowable by us?
Does the title sound awful to you? I can see how it could. But please just hear me out. I am looking to have a completely collaborative experience with a dedicated group of people, and I would simply bring the idea and facilitate the event. Here's what I am envisioning.
hi,
I'm not sure what the plan is for the class but I had a couple of things that might be cool to read/watch/listen to:
Max Ernst and Alchemy
A Magician in Search of Myth
Description:
"Surrealist artist Max Ernst defined collage as the "alchemy of the visual image." Students of his work have often dismissed this comment as simply a metaphor for the transformative power of using found images in a new context. Taking a wholly different perspective on Ernst and alchemy, however, M. E. Warlick persuasively demonstrates that the artist had a profound and abiding interest in alchemical philosophy and often used alchemical symbolism in works created throughout his career."
This Sunday, May 2nd at 2pm - just as the shade crosses Chung King Road. Bring a board if you've got one. Please RSVP on the class web page (http://la.thepublicschool.org/class/1450) so we know how many tables and chairs and things we need.
